It was great to get back in the studio this week. Devising has started on this summers final performance for the second year students at Circomedia. Directing this performance is the biggest highlight of my year. After the success of Indelible, last June, I feel more confident with the circus elements. A year ago, when embarking on my first (second if you count the Christmas 2019 show) contemporary circus and physical theatre performance, I was petrified. It is one thing directing theatre but a whole other thing when you throw in circus! The rigging, the equipment, rigging and de-rigging a tight wire (!), the safety, the physical energy of the performers....?! It was a challenge that I am incredibly proud of and, most importantly, all the students shone. Being back in the studio researching this years show has got the ideas flowing... now the 'circus' is not such a suprise!
